
Water Mills on the Bowmont (2002) was the society's first publication. It was prompted by the redundancy and dereliction of the many mills in the Yetholm area. Three of the most prominent buildings - the mills at Duncanhaugh, Kirk Yetholm & Blunty's - were still standing, but were in the process of radical conversion. Others, such as the old sawmill on Yetholm haugh, were disappearing under the earth. Gordon Ogilvie convened a small research group and the result was Water Mills on the Bowmont. As the title suggests its coverage extends beyond the immediate environs of Yetholm, including discussion of the mills at Belford and Sourhope. Now out of print, a copy can be consulted in the YHS archives in the Old Mission Hall in Town Yetholm, along with other relevant material which we have collected.
